The author is an official member and consul of Poets of the World,〔(Alcione Sortica at ''Poetas del Mundo'' )〕 and a professor at Castro Alves Academy for Arts, Sciences and Literature.〔(Alcione Sortica as academic (chair 38) of ''Academia de Artes, Ciências e Letras Castro Alves'' )〕 == Biography == The writer is a former government Income Tax Auditor. After his retirement, he devoted his time to the arts, mainly to literature, but with contributions in music and painting. In poetry, part of his work was translated and adapted into Spanish and presented in Argentina. He received several literary awards, especially in southern Brazil, for his essays, stories, poems and other texts. His book ''Cacos do Tempo'' (''Pieces of Time''), published in 2004, prepared the way for a new work called ''Beira de Açude'' (''Edge of a Pond'').
